Terms of Service

References to “Company,” “we,” “our,” or “us” denote modsignal. “Services” encompasses modsignal.io, the modsignal dashboard at app.modsignal.io, the modsignal monitoring engine, and all products maintained by modsignal.

We may update these terms periodically, typically to clarify provisions or reflect changes to our services. Updates will be reflected with a refreshed date at the top of this document, and account holders will receive appropriate notification. By continuing to use our Services after changes take effect, you agree to the updated terms.

1. You maintain responsibility for account and password security, ensuring all users within your team do likewise. modsignal bears no liability for losses resulting from security failures on your end.
2. Services may not be used for any unlawful purpose or to violate any regulations.
3. You are accountable for all monitors configured under your account and all activity on your account.
4. Only human users may register accounts. “Bot”-registered or automated account creation is prohibited.

1. Monitors may only target publicly accessible web pages. Pages behind authentication, paywalls, or access controls may not be monitored.
2. You are responsible for ensuring that your monitoring of a given page complies with applicable law and, where relevant, the target site's terms.
3. The Services may not be used to collect personal data about individuals, to circumvent technical protection measures, or to place unreasonable load on third-party sites. Check frequency is capped per plan for this reason.

1. The Free plan provides 3 monitors with daily checks and up to 2 team members at no cost, with no credit card required.
2. Upgrades to a paid plan (Pro, Scale, or Business) charge immediately. Plan changes are handled through the Stripe customer portal and prorate automatically.
3. All fees exclude applicable taxes and duties. Where required by law, we collect taxes on behalf of the relevant authorities.
4. Refund requests are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact hello@modsignal.io if you believe you are owed a refund.

1. You are solely responsible for proper cancellation through Settings → Billing in the dashboard. Email or phone requests do not constitute cancellation.
2. Upon cancellation of your account, your data is permanently deleted from active systems within 30 days and from backups within 60 days. Recovery is not possible afterward.
3. Canceling a paid plan before the end of your billing period allows continued access through the remainder of that period without additional charges.
4. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts and refuse service access for any reason at any time, including but not limited to violation of these terms.
5. Verbal, physical, written, or other abuse directed at modsignal employees results in immediate account termination.

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue Services, temporarily or permanently, with or without notice. Pricing changes may occur with 30 days' notice via email or announcement on our website.

If you downgrade a plan, nothing is deleted: monitors keep running with check intervals clamped to the new plan's fastest allowed interval, and creating new monitors is blocked while you are over the new plan's limit.

1. Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” While we take uptime seriously, no service-level agreement is included unless explicitly agreed upon in writing.
2. Scheduled checks are run on a best-effort basis. A missed or delayed check does not entitle you to compensation.
3. We employ multiple protective measures — backups, redundancies, and encryption — to secure your data. All data in transit and at rest is encrypted.
4. Your data is processed according to our Privacy Policy. Third-party vendors and hosting partners that may process personal data are listed on our Subprocessors page.

The modsignal service, dashboard, marketing site, and monitoring engine are proprietary to modsignal. Your monitor configurations, prompts, and alert history remain yours — we claim no ownership over them.

Content fetched from monitored pages belongs to the respective site owners. Snapshots are stored solely to provide you with change detection and evidence, and are not republished.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, modsignal shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of or inability to use the Services — including decisions made or not made on the basis of an alert that fired, failed to fire, or fired incorrectly.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Berlin, Germany.
